United States of Africa follows the quest of Senegalese African hip hop pioneer Didier Awadi as he puts together a tribute album to Black Consciousness leaders. This musical epic takes Awadi to 40 countries and gives him a deeper understanding of the power of music and the need for political engagement. Accompanied by a soundtrack by Ghislain Poirier and music by Awadi, this insightful documentary captures a youthful and politicized continent that refuses to be cast in the role of victim and that may well be the cradle of the next global revolution.
