In early 1993 "Bikini Kill" got together with UK Riot Grrrl band "Huggy
Bear" for a tour of England, Wales and Scotland.
A film was made by Lucy Thane of this tour called "It Changed My Life."

A video-film-music documentary by and about dykes beginning to find
culture/lives they can stand through Punk Rock. Featuring Tribe 8, Fifth
Column, Cunts With Attitude, Riot Girl NYC, Team Dresch, Sister George,
Phranc, Free to Fight.
The 1970's Punk was queerer and more radically diverse than the straight
white male phenomenon it is remembered as and D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself), a
central philosophy, as much originated out of necessity as aesthetic.
Women, especially dykes, have been central to the development of
Queerpunk, finding in it a mode of expression that can be accessed
without privilege, can speak an uncompromising message and is revolt
against the exclusive and mainstream face of lesbian culture which
desires assimilation and acceptance

"...Wenn ich 13jährige Mädchen bei einer Show auffordere, nach vorne zu
kommen, und die dann meine Texte singen, als wären es ihre eigenen, dann
berührt mich das sehr. Auch wenn ich in eine Stadt komme, in der ich
schon mal aufgetreten bin und wo Mädchen eine Band gründen wollen,
obwohl ihre Brüder ihnen jahrelang erzählt hatten, dass sie beim
Berühren der Verstärker einen elektrischen Schlag kriegen und sterben
würden - wenn ich dann vielleicht zwei Jahre später mit diesen jungen
Girl-Bands auftrete, dann kriege ich viel zurück. Es zirkuliert..."
