CJ Fly is a 29-year old emcee born and raised inBrooklyn, New York. He began writing poetry in the fourth grade and by the seventh grade, was rapping. He met Joey Bada$$, Powers Pleasant and Capital STEEZ in high school. The four would 

spend their school days cyphering in the auditorium and by 2011 had officially formed PROGRESSIVE ERA (PRO ERA), a Brooklyn-based 

hip-hop collective. 

 

After the release of Pro Era’s The Secc$ Tape in 2012, CJ was featured on and A&R’d Joey Bada$$’ solo debut, 1999, alongside music industry veteran Jonny Shipes and received recognition for his reputable storytelling on tracks like “Hardknock” and “Don’t Front.” The crew followed-up with the release PEEP: The aPROcalypse and The Shift which continued to garner buzz for the collective. 

 

In 2013, CJ went on the Beast Coastal Tour with fellow Pro Era members, The Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. He, along with the rest of 

Pro Era, joined Wiz Khalifa's Under The Influence Tour in 2013 with A$AP Rocky, Trinidad James, Chevy Woods, Smoke DZA, and more. He later made an appearance on Joey's second mixtape Summer Knights along with the rest of Pro Era on the song "Sorry Bonita" produced by Oddisee. 

 

On October 5, 2013, he released his debut mixtape, THEE WAY EYE SEE IT. With features from various Pro Era members, Buckshot from Black Moon, Ab-Soul from TDE , Phife Dawg from A  and production from Chuck Strangers, Statik Selektah, and more, the mixtape has received critical acclaims and made him a candidate for XXL's 2014 and 2015 Freshman List. On December 9, 2016, CJ Fly released his debut studio album entitled FLYTRAP.

He released the album exclusively with TIDAL on December 8, and made the album available on all streaming services on December 9. Premiering on Billboard.com, his single “Now You Know” has garnered almost half a million plays on Soundcloud  and was featured in Love & Hip Hop Season 6 - Episode 7 (2017). The 14-track LP is a personal album and CJ makes his producer debut on “Always,” an ode to his late grandfather who makes an appearance on the record too. In March of 2019, CJ joined Beast Coast supergroup (Flatbush Zombies, UA, Pro Era) on tour and released “Escape From New York” LP. They group performed on Late Night: Jimmy Fallon amongst multiple national festivals. In 2020, CJ released his collaborative album “RUDEBWOY” alongside Statik Selektah via ADA/WARNER and the title track featuring Joey Bada$$ has over 5 million plus plays on all dsps. He has since learned to produce on his own. independently released his first beat tape “The Way I H(ear) It” in 2020 and plenty self produced singles. On September 8th,2021, CJ released a mixtape dedicated to Kobe Bryant called “Not What You’re Expecting” with 24 tracks. In December of 2021, CJ also had his debut acting role in the Sopranos film, “The Many Saints Of Newark” .

 

On February 22nd, 2022, he released his EP “The Pharaoh’s Return” produced by Hip Hop Veteran, NasteeLuvsYou. He has plans of releasing singles from his upcoming project “FLYTRAP 2” and is working on completing Pro Era album with his crew.

 

CJ has established himself with his indisputable charm and lyrical imagery as a prominent artist of his generation.
