ABGESAGT: Ark Electronica

Conceived of as an action call/event in solidarity with the Pakistani struggle in the light of recent environmental catastrophe and the desire to self-organize an alternative showcase of cross-disciplinary artists in parallel to the Ars Electronica Festival 2022,  “Ark Electronica” is an audio-visual nightlong performance exploring post-internet aesthetics and accelerating recourse to the quasi-analog, obsolete modes in sonic production.  

The theme of the “Ark Electronica” is a speculative narrative built around the Abrahamic myth of the Great Flood resonating with the Pakistani tragedy and influenced by the union of 70+ nationalities in a single spatio-temporal point at Ars Electronica, which, coincidentally or not, is modelled after a ship.

As “Ark Electronica” follows the closing of the AE Festival into the small spillover hours of the post-event temporality culminating in a night of (sub)cultural impulses and performative interventions that leverage on the represented diversity, it is being hosted for all participants of FU 2022 along with Linz locals and Ars Electronica Festival visitors.

We, the organisers of “Ark Electronica” see the dance floor as a site of reflection, overcoming and celebration.
